After two years of GCSE and Sixth Form study like never before, we are delighted to say our Yr11 and Year 13 students experienced wonderful results mornings this week.

With final examinations cancelled this year, Eckington Yr11 and Yr13 students completed a series of smaller but intensive exam-style assessments, and through these and a recognition of other substantial pieces of work completed over their courses, our students produced all the evidence needed to provide robust centre assessed grades.

Despite all the upheaval to their studies, students remained committed at all times to achieving excellence. At GCSE, twenty-seven of our Yr11 students achieved the highest grades (7, 8, 9) in the majority of their subjects.  In 6^th form, twenty of our Yr13 students achieved the highest grades (A*/A or Distinctions) in all of their subjects and all of our students that applied, have been successful in securing a placement in their first or second choice university.  We also have a number of students beginning degree-level apprenticeships and entering the world of employment.

Their determination, intelligence and skill has been fairly rewarded, providing them with a strong progression pathway. Many of our Yr11 students are coming back to our 6^th form; some are off to college, and some into apprenticeships and work.  At 6^th form, many students are off to university, others into the world of employment. Whatever their destinations, we wish them the very best of luck!

Their amazing achievements reflect the incredible hard work they have put in, in some very difficult conditions.  They have had to overcome a variety of unprecedented hurdles over the past 18 months, and have done so with resilience and commitment. They have earned their grades and we wish them every success in the next stage of their studies and careers.  2021 was a year to remember, and our Class of 2021 are year groups we will never forget.”

Chief Executive, Wayne Barsby, paid tribute to parents and carers: “We have witnessed strong home support for students in their studies, this year more than ever before. When the going was tough for our young people, their families rallied round to support them. Just as parents and carers have thanked school staff for their amazing efforts over the last year, so we thank them too!”
