Admission to Eckington Sixth form is a simple process. Students currently studying at Eckington are automatically accepted as long as entry requirements for the course are met (please see our prospectus for course details).

Internal Candidates

Internal candidates will be invited to apply for Eckington Sixth Form. Students will need to read the prospectus and attend the Sixth Form Open Evening to find out more about the courses we offer and the entry requirements. Students will then be invited to taster sessions during our Post 16 week. This opportunity allows students to experience lessons in the courses they are interested. The students will also have the opportunity to use the Sixth Form facilities. Students should then complete the application form and return it to Mrs Needham by Friday 16^th December 2022. Interviews then take place at the beginning of the Spring Term (January). During the interview, potential candidates will be asked about their future progression plans and their course choices. Conditional offers are made to successful candidates via letter before the end of the Spring Term. The enrolment day is conducted on the day after GCSE results day to confirm entry requirements and course choices.

External Candidates

Over recent years we have more and more students applying from other schools.

The Sixth Form team dedicate their time to ensure all students receive one to one advice and guidance. It is important to us that students are on the right course and feel supported in their decisions. Students will need to read the prospectus and attend the Sixth Form Open Evening to find out more about the courses we offer and the entry requirements. If external candidates would like to also visit us in the day and meet key staff this can be arranged.

External candidates should download and complete an application form and send via email to katherine.needham@eck.leap-mat.org.uk The deadline for applications is 27th January 2023. Interviews for external candidates will be held in the first half of the spring term. Candidates should supply a reference and latest assessment and attendance data before an offer can be made. Students will be invited to interview. Conditional offers are made to successful candidates via letter at the end of the spring term. The enrolment day is conducted on the day after GCSE results day to confirm entry requirements and course choices. Proof of GCSE grades should be brought on this day. In September the Sixth Form team work hard to ensure students feel welcomed and positive relationships are formed across the year group. There will be a variety of activities giving the students and staff an opportunity to get to know each other in a fun environment.

Sixth Form Open Evening

All interested students and their families, internal and external, are invited to our Sixth Form open evening on Tuesday 1st November 2022 5.30pm – 8pm.  This opportunity allows students to find out what we have to offer and meet current students and staff from all subject areas.
