Progression routes
The Sixth Form team strongly believe in raising student aspirations and a lot of our work focuses on ensuring students’ progression is a successful one, whether this be higher education or employment. A rich programme of support and guidance is planned for both year 12 and year 13 throughout the course of their A level study.
For further information please go to the UCAS website on: www.ucas.co.uk and access the parent section where you will be able to view the most recent information on how to support your child through the process.
Morning Guidance
Morning guidance sessions are designed to introduce students to the pros and cons of university study, student finance, moving away from home, The UCAS process, and guidance on using the Unifrog application tool. Students will also be provided with the opportunity to visit local universities and meet university ambassadors who lead innovative workshops, guiding students through the maze of UCAS and the application process.
For Year 13 students we devote one lesson a week on guidance, where students will complete UCAS applications and/or CVs in preparation for the next stage in their life. Students will also experience student finance workshops and be given support to complete their finance applications. Please refer to the latest student finance advice if you are unsure of how the system works and what your son/daughter may be entitled to.
We work in partnership with the local universities and they too offer advice and support for student and parents regarding all of the above issues.
If you have any further questions with regards to higher education or student finance please don’t hesitate to contact one of the Sixth Form team who will be more than happy to help.
