New construction course launched at Eckington School
Eckington school have proudly introduced a new construction course with the D&T/ICT faculty. LEAP Trust have invested in renovating and tooling 3 construction rooms to provide students with an excellent initiation into the world of construction enabling them to decide whether this is a sector within which they would wish to work in the future.
There is an emphasis on gaining practical skills. The qualification also promotes the development of wider employment skills, emphasising the importance of appropriate conduct and dress within a work area, customer service, customer care and safe working practices.
The aims of the qualification are to encourage the development of generic employability skills and to promote the gaining of work-related skills within construction. Student will be prepared for further training within construction.
These qualifications provide the ideal introduction to the construction industry and cover essential skills in the following construction trades: bricklaying, carpentry and joinery, plastering, construction operations, wall and floor tiling, electrical and plumbing.
